The programs at MTC range from the semester-long Children's Community Theatre for students ages 7-18 to weekly classes for grades K-3 and a Summer Camp for children ages 7-12. Opportunities range from public performance, to directing, lighting, sound, and stage management. Scholarships are offered to many children and payment plans are offered for all classes/programs.
Children's Community Theatre
Tuition $300; $75 rebate available in exchange for parent volunteer hours*
Grades 2-12
Students grades 2-12 participate in acting, directing, singing, lights, sound effects, set construction, makeup, stage crew and stage management. Rehearsals are usually one to three times per week depending on the age of the student and his/her role. Times and dates are scheduled based on students' availability. Every MTC student "gets a part" with direct on-stage experience.
Intermediate Drama
Tuition $135; $25 rebate available in exchange for parent volunteer hours*
Grades 4-7
For those not quite ready for the big stage or those who have less time to devote to theatre practice.Class meets twice a week with some additional rehearsals scheduled based on participants' availability and culminates in a class performance.
*Parents interested in a tuition rebate are expected to contribute volunteer time during the semester and/or sell ads for the playbill. Volunteer work could include assisting with costume design and construction, prop design and construction, office work, backstage supervision during performances, ticket sales, ad sales, and/or playbill design. Do you have a special talent/skill that may benefit MTC? If so, talk to the Volunteer Coordinator about using that skill for your volunteer hours.
Fun with Drama
Fun with Drama, grades K-1
Tuition $75
1 hour per week
Fun with Drama, grades 2-3
Tuition $90
1 hour 15 minutes per week
An introduction to the craft of acting with hands-on experiences in creative dramatics. Children receive a foundation in the process of acting through a variety of beginning acting exercises and through the rehearsals of a skit culminating in the performance at the end of program.
Vocal Coaching
Tuition $70 (CCT Members $50)
Grades 2-12
1 hour per week
Learn to maximize your strengths and manage your weaknesses. Work together to improve vocal and choral skills including: proper breathing, warm ups, tone, ear training, ensemble singing, text interpretation, and listening.
Summer Day Camp
Tuition $130/week for full day, $90/week for half day
Ages 7-12
6 weeks, July-August
Students participate in theatre, art, music, dance, and/or creative writing according to each week's theme. Each week ends in a Friday noon-time performance. Full day campers walk to Marilla Park for an afternoon of swimming.
